HB3 focuses on learning and improving student outcomes through reading support in the primary grades, Grades K-3, but what about students in grades 4-12? This academy is designed for districts and/or campus leadership teams to look beyond HB3 and address literacy for all students in all content areas. During the two-day academy, participants will learn from an experienced literacy leader about building a culture of literacy, building capacity for everyone in the organization in literacy pedagogy, and how to put systems in place that promote system coherency and monitors literacy progress.
Learning Objectives:
- Review why literacy is critical to success for all students
- Deepen leaders’ understanding of how culture, pedagogical knowledge, capacity building, and systems-thinking are the foundational components of a literacy plan.
- Position districts and/or campus teams to understand and apply requirements for developing a school-wide literacy plan.
