Instructional Rounds is an instructional improvement practice that involves classroom observation and reflection on a Problem of Practice. Instructional Rounds is rooted in the belief that adult learning about teaching and learning in the context of a real classroom with real students and a real teacher is key to the improvement of our practice. The focus is on adult learning about what constitutes good teaching and learning. It is a collective learning journey in that the process is collaborative, and the work is done in teams. It is about thinking deeply and critically regarding what instructional moves cause learning. It is not about teacher evaluation or fixing schools. It is about providing a structure where educators can learn how to continually improve the most powerful lever they have in the learning process: instruction.
